作品賞析
In Confused II, Chiang Chih-Hsuan uses the sights of nature to express her feelings and understanding of life. Intertwined tree roots spread across the composition, almost filling it, and an owl looks up at them from underneath. Its compressed space gives the viewer a strong feeling of oppressiveness. Chiang Chih-Hsuan uses a very fine technical pen to sculpt the fine texture of the tree roots and owl feathers on the acrylic board. If you look carefully, the lines printed on the paper protrude. Chiang deliberately used intaglio printing to make these textures more vivid. Chiang created this work during the Covid-19 pandemic. The twisting tree roots, vines, and stems are metaphors for complex pathways in life—all are different, but they are connected to and affect one another. Just as the pandemic affects everyone, everyone is hemmed in and feels confused.
