作品賞析
The artist Lin Chun-Wei has always been concerned about the environment. His Urban Occupation focuses on artificially cultivated plants in the city. With red and green tin roofs, mottled or painted concrete walls, and red brick houses, Lin accurately captures the Taiwanese streetscapes we know so well with clean lines and clear blocks of color. However, above this ordinary scene, there is an unusual purple sky, and at the center, a plant of unusual proportions appears. It clings to the top of an earthen mound and towers over the city’s skyline, living at the highest point, as if occupying the entire city. This is how Lin reminds us of the importance of plants in the city. When we walk through any city, one will find many potted plants on many balconies, but they are often overlooked because they have become too familiar. They may seem invisible, but these plants already play an indispensable role in our lives.
