XU Li-Xuan conjoins both surrealism and pop art, narrates in a new tone. See the Explosion in the Distance is painted in acrylic, the screens, paintings in painting and contrast in colors in the picture create a hybrid-scene with extraction and losing focus. Figures in the painting are placed at multiple perspective points, pointing out the direction they gaze, and the gaze links figures from different space and time, which cracks the closure of each scene and involves the viewers in the explosion regardless of the distance. XU Li-Xuan revisits scenes in his life through reconfiguration and collage, embodies his own narration in the signs and symbols after de-contextualization. Besides the breakage between surreal and real, he creates ambivalences and barriers between 2D and 3D spaces.
