CHEN Shu-Chen's work After films the vacant motel rooms after the guests left from 2012 to 2018. After experiencing a traumatic event, she uses a female perspective to interpret gender symbols in the motels as well as the relationship between observation and photography. When she is in those spaces, she can inspire a process of self-healing and also transforms the image aesthetics into a creative practice. After analyzes the special space culture in Taiwan motels, which is full of heterogeneity and unrealistic characteristics. After the guests left, the remaining traces, odors, food, and crumpled sheets echo the personal creative form, transforming the process of viewing into the realization.
