作品賞析
CHU Li-An pays special attention to the state of human existence. In the gray picture of the work, We are close and alienated, two people's hands are wrapped around each other and they look like they are tightly hugging each other. However, their eyes are looking at elsewhere and their faces are full of sorrow, showing that their seemingly intimate relationship is in fact alienating. The characters’ skin is expressed with a mottled texture, symbolizing the alienating psychological state in modern humans. CHU Li-An tries to use painting to express how the emotional relationship has already been altered due to people’s dependence on the Internet. She believes that under the development of modern science and technology, the connection between people has been shifted from the actual existence of the body into the virtual space on the Internet. Modern hugs are now built on the condition that one of the bodies is not actually present.
