SHIH Chih-Wei's oil painting, Sorrowful Autumn, is his "Life Series" work. He uses flowers and paper cranes as main elements. The circular composition shows the image of a cosmic stardust. A beautiful flower in full bloom is placed in the center of the picture. With delicate techniques, he outlines the different wrinkles and bends in each petal. The more outside the petals are, the blurrier they become, suggesting that they are gradually withering and vanishing. "Flowers will always blossom and wilt”. SHIH Chih-Wei depicts the sentimentality when flowers wither and uses blossoming and withering to express a reflection of the process of life.
