CHEN Pei-Yi’s gouache, Solemn, illustrates a portrait of a man. The man looks young and his naked upper body shows a strong and perfect body with a masculine temperament. Wearing a feathered crown on his head and a pair of huge blue wings on his back, he seems like a half-beast human in mythology. The fancy jewelry worn on his body is a symbol for bravery.
