LIN Jiun-Kuei is skilled at using metals as the sculpture material and expressive vocabulary. In the work Empty, a complete piece of cube steel is sketched and cut with irregular lines. These lines form an abstract, changing, and broken shape under the cold and hard surface of steel, while at the same time, destroy the wholeness of the steel cube and form different gaps and spaces. The cut lines leave traces of burnt marks on the steel surface; the light illuminates into the hollow interior through the cracked gaps and forms a contrast in light and dark, enriching the spatial layer of the geometric square. LIN Jiun-Kuei combines the sculptural work with painting, adding a spiritual sensation of hand drawing to the square cube.
