作品賞析
HUANG Chin-Chen is a member of the Kavalan tribe who employs critical perspectives as an inspiration to generate works that reflect upon deliberate destruction of the land and the environment. Life is a Saw and I’m Holding its Handle uses knives and saws as the creative material. The blades are cut in a way to form rows of people and images of the forests, dolphins, and whales. The sharp blades symbolize human destruction that includes deforestation and the death of dolphins and whales due to hunting or entanglement in fishing nets. HUANG Chin-Chen uses this work as a metaphorical symbol to illustrate the imbalanced relationship between nature and people and to voice a powerful protest against our actions.
