LIN Cheng-Jung is skilled in seal carving, ink painting, and calligraphy, generating ink painting works that are tied to phenomena and observations of life. Thinking of the Former Age converts folk art into graphical elements. Hand puppet dolls of different characters wearing various outfits and personalities are arrayed in different postures. These puppets symbolize the desire for power and romantic relationships between loving couples. Bronze decorative items are cleverly strewn between the puppets to dissect the image into 3 sections. LIN Cheng-Jung’s works can be regarded as an extension of the artistic styles of the Jinshi school and use folk art as the theme to create metaphorical presentations of humanity and reality.
