HSIAO Li-Lan uses the ever-changing external world to convey her inner sensations. The Moon in Heart – the Third Ear uses thick color and changing textures overlapping in many layers that spread inwards from the perimeter. The flowing and mixed multiple color layers create a spontaneous and random dimension of change. Varying hues appear like the ever-changing ocean tides or clouds and serve as a metaphor for the unpredictable ebbs and rises of life.
