YANG Hai-Yun’s House of Cards – Seemingly Occasional Scene uses a set of explicit artistic vocabulary to convey personal feelings in response to the external environment. These feelings are related to identity confusion and family issues experienced during childhood as well as the anxiety and tension felt during interpersonal relationships. The subsumed colors and the fragmented images and brushstrokes represent everyday objects extracted from past memories. Some simply could not be gotten rid of, while others are things or people longed for by the artist. The complete composition comprises stacked colors and drips as a metaphor for memories and their destruction, reconstruction, concealment, and neglect. YANG Hai-Yun makes use of artistic creation to release personal experiences while documenting various forms of personal life and memories.
