Through My Artificial Eyes

CHANG Yu-Ling’s “Through My Artificial Eyes” integrates painting with a three-dimensional form, and narrates spatial concepts using two perspectives. Wooden panels were used to assemble a structurally simple miniature house while painting a landscape of her native lands on the surface of the house. Arrangements of the lines and colors generate an optical illusion where the internal and external spaces of the building co-exist, generating a visual state filled with tension. The surface of the work was further subject to grinding to generate a worn texture and heighten the sensation of temporal depth. CHANG Yu-Ling has constructed this exclusive miniature monument for her memories to remind her of roots and identity.
