SHEN Hong-Chin’s oil paintings combine eastern and western cultural concepts. His works are based upon the spirit of eastern ink painting techniques and combined with western oil painting methods, incorporating innate personal senses and experiences that are then converted into abstract landscape paintings. “Mountain in the Water” uses green as the main tone of the painting. Varied brush strokes and technical presentation combined with inner feelings convey ideas and beliefs inspired by nature itself. The green oil paint and overlapping rises of mountain ranges and fading clouds do not bear a figurative form, yet perfectly convey the shapes and shapelessness of mists in the mountains, generating a visual experience where viewers can imagine themselves surrounded by the mountain scape and experience the ever-changing nature.
