SHIU Tzu-Kuan often uses self-constructed prophecies to convey inner mindsets and desires within people. Looking for Main Course depicts special agents in traditional costumes who have received a secret decree to set out the middle of the night to look for the Heavenly Herb from the Heavenly Mountains. The Heavenly Mountains is an extra terrestrial being that causes supernatural changes to the surroundings. The Heavenly Herb has the magical powers of affecting one’s soul and those who are not accepted by the herb will lose their center of mass and float away. In this artwork, the Heavenly Herb is a popular term that serves as an analogy of the perfect friend. Nevertheless, unfamiliar things are always alluring, and people who seek impossible goals will often experience the risk of losing themselves in the process. SHIU Tzu-Kuan observes modern lifestyles and created this artwork to convey the blind hipster mindset of people craving popular items and trends.
