WANG Sean often uses landscapes as his artistic theme to present his observations of daily life and as a means to explore artistic spaces. The Clouds are to be the Stars is an assembly of large swathes of blue and white hues. The upper left corner is a montage of overlapping brush strokes that form the contours of the heavens and clouds. The remaining canvas space, on the other hand, is covered by varying grades of blue that are used to create rich, verdant crowns of trees. The dripping paint is then used to wash away the figurative forms of the trees until the colors completely fade away. WANG Sean uses flowing paint to symbolize the trail of passing time, making the viewers aware of the incompleteness and defects of the visual world so that they may better appreciate the diverse boundaries between natural and artificial elements.
