LIANG Ping-Zheng’s creations explore the concepts of time and life. Unique dots, lines, and surface sculpting techniques are used to create textures with various grains, ripples, and ridges. Mask No.2 is a work that symbolizes such process. LIANG Ping- Zheng believes that most people cannot understand themselves because they’re wearing a mask, and the true identities can only be revealed by taking off this mask. The work shows a muscular upper torso donning a special stainless-steel mask that features unique Brazilian Samba elements as well as traditional Japanese kimono hairstyle. The work explores the aesthetic possibilities of sculpting and its ability to reflect our inner world.
