LU Han-Ping is a calligrapher who spent years studying the beauty of Chinese characters, and has strong interest in various cursive scripts, often infusing his calligraphic artworks with his literary hobbies and discoveries. Life in the Present is based on the Zen-Buddhist philosophy of: “Seek the way by heart, and not pursuit nor speed. Desire is a wayward fantasy. One must not seek desires or results. This simply means: focus on the process, not the ends of the means.” The calligraphy provides a textual arrangement and feiba brushstrokes. Ink trails of different weights and colors portray interactions between the texture of the brush and paper as well as the rhythms of texts. The complementary melody of form and contents provide an intricate harmony of aesthetics while conveying a style of creative calligraphy.
