TSAI Meng-Hsia’s The Temple II is based on the form of cats to create a realm of fantasy filled with intricate pillars and railings. The overlapping space creates a maze-like area that symbolizes the artist’s complex inner world. Cats of different poses and colors represent the artist’s childhood friends. These animals traversed different spatial and temporal areas in nimble moves reminiscent of their interactions with the artist. TSAI Meng-Hsia regards the cats as an emotional medium for recording the process of growth and the complexities of human life and reality. Fantasy is evoked to suspend time at the most wonderful moments.
