TSAI Ren-De’s work Vista starts with a cubist approach, transforming street buildings and spaces into creative elements to create overlapping assemblages of color blocks. These blocks may be commercial signboards of shops, exhibit displays of department stores, or even modernist architectural structures disassembled into abstract patches of color. Different types of brushstrokes were then used to impart various glossiness and textures to the building material. TSAI Ren-De has created a set of artistic vocabulary for building a montage of different shades, layers, and contrasts and a visual symphony of modern life and architectural spaces, providing a unique perspective that imparts a new understanding and imagination of the city we live in.
