HUANG Meng-Ting’s Roaming 2 is an ink painting that conveys her inner insecurities and irritation in the era of information explosion. The ink painting is covered by a dense, repeated formation of plankton-like strips forming aggregated shapes resembling mountain ranges and rocks. The rectangular strips are trails left behind after peeling away tapes, leaving behind an ephemeral, floating streak that represent artificial constructs and buildings amongst the stony formations and creating an inner sanctuary for the artist herself. HUANG Meng-Ting attempted to create an intersectional contradiction to create a surreal, dream-like Shangri-La as a refuge from the troubles of life and to alleviate and soothe her mental and spiritual being.
