CHU Fang-Yi’s ceramic works use familiar yet fantastic combinations of objects and symbols to investigate the relationships between life and memories. Overflight Dream shows a porcelain sculpture shaped like an apartment block that has been given a pair of wings so that it seems to float in mid-air. Tiny forms seem to be dangling from the surfaces of the houses, serving as symbols of different family memories of the building block. CHU Fang-Yi investigates our abilities to interpret unknown images by creating porcelain sculptures that are rich in creative elements and provides a warm emotional atmosphere in order to illustrate the connections between personal emotions and memories.
