TSAI Chang-Chi uses different photographic angles to observe and capture different expressions of architectural spaces. The Wall is a series of black and white photographs of local surfaces and planes in an architectural space that were assembled to create a minimalist and abstract image. The photographs show that any uneven surfaces on the wall could become a component of an artwork. Well-arranged and crisscrossed tiles as well as cracked walls form textures that resemble color patches and brushstrokes, allowing the photographs to appear more like paintings. Light, shadow, and reflection heighten the contrast, adding rhythmic visuals to the entire work.
