CHANG I-Yun’s Waiting, Expecting is a black and white photograph that captures the endless majesty of nature. A lonesome, withered old tree without any leaves stand stubbornly on a rock-covered slope. The tree has endured countless years, seasons, and storms, yet its withered branches continue to reach for the skies. The foreground of this work shows a closeup of a rock covered with criss-crossing markings. White textures are the results of long-term geographical and environmental erosion that also left its mark upon the tree. Nature has witnessed the countless years that the tree and rock have accompanied each other. CHANG I-Yun has employed natural elements of a tree and a rock as the subjects to convey an earnest, caring, and patient relationship that exist in silence.
