HSU Chih-Hung is a freestyle illustrator who also enjoys creating innovative artworks. His works are featured by their warm gentle tones and innocent atmosphere. Pastel colors and off-white shades were employed in 1/3. There are no distinct shapes or dominant purpose present in the composition. Instead, abstract methods were adopted to condense an individual’s entire lifetime upon the canvas. 1/3 represents the artist’s life and his contemplation upon the various contradictions and questions encountered after graduating from school. The figure below appears like a small creature contemplating about its future as it looks out to the sea. Purifying streams in its mind washes away the trails left by over-thinking to inject new strength into its body. As an artist, HSU Chih-Hung uses illustrations as a way to record life. Despite moments of helplessness and conflict, he remains hopeful and true to his path.
