作品賞析
CHANG Hsuan-Yao’s Dance is inspired by female dancers. Outlines of a female danger with her arms upraised and the power in her limbs could be readily observed from this abstract work. Geometric elements were introduced to the minimalist form. Smooth round lines were employed to generate a curvaceous beauty, creating a single continuous artwork that flows in a rhythmic and theatrical fashion. Varying thicknesses at different angles accentuate the tension in the curves, likening the resulting work to an endless cycle of life and leading the viewer’s imagination onwards to a perfectly integrated form of power and beauty. To CHANG Hsuan-Yao, sculpting needs to incorporate innovative ideas within traditional approaches and seek changes in order. The dancing female form can be interpreted in various ways to highlight its beauty. In this case, the artist has forged the female form into an everlasting and graceful composition.
