作品賞析

CHEN Cheng-Hsun has experimented widely using vastly different materials in his ceramic works that include both 2D and 3D compositions. Page 2 used ceramics and wood which were exposed to fire and smoke to generate color textures that simulate different ink painting effects, shades, and textures. The simplicity of this minimalist work depicts a pure artistic language. The topic investigated in this work is life and death. Wood symbolizes organic life, and its combustion represents destruction. The act of dissolving wood ash in earth to form the final ceramic product symbolizes resurrection. Through this artwork,CHEN Cheng-Hsun hopes to convey the endless cycle of biological life that exists amongst people and nature, and the idea that art is based upon life and serves as its inspiration as well.
