WU Yun-Qiao’s Cultivation Plan is based upon plants as well as her inner self, and explores the relationship between inner feelings and external imageries. The artist first renders a large and richly layered background. Multiple black spots were then created using dark ink, from which then sprout fine white filaments that appear like organic hyphae flowing freely across the artwork and forming an interesting contrast against the blank space in the middle. The result is a natural rhythm of dark and light patches. For this artwork, WU Yun-Qiao has converted herself into an organism, where every layer of ink and black organic entity represent a moment in her life. By reimagining herself as a plant, WU Yun-Qiao has combined her inner sensations with the outside world to create this unique spiritual landscape.
