YU I-Shan mainly uses illustrations as her creative media and has recently explored aspects of spirituality in her artworks. 2012 Dandelion-06 includes a number of figurative yet seemingly abstract color patches overlapping with each other to create a diverse presentation. Simple lines and colors were employed to give the composition a refreshing, comfortable, yet richly formed effect and enchanting creativity. Automatist techniques were employed during the process of creation, allowing imagination to rampage across the canvas. Sketching approaches were then employed in order to consolidate and condense creative essences and connect various parts of the picture. The resulting composition is an expression of the artist’s contemplation and mood and conveys her imaginary world filled with both rational and emotional elements. The entire work is filled with poetic elements that will leave a lasting impression to the viewers.
