Meet the Red Maple

WU Ching-Hui’s Meet the Red Maple selected maple trees as the creative subject. WU Ching-Hui has illustrated a brilliant scenery of maple trees changing their colors from green, to yellow, and finally to red. Clouds and mists meander and flow along the ridges and valleys in a dream-like landscape, while the natural geological formations are accentuated with green, purple, and green, recreating the scene of transforming mantles atop the mountains as autumn approaches. Careful study of the composition reveals several buildings nestled atop mountain ridges in the background like paradise on Earth. This work allowed WU Ching-Hui to convey the powerful emotional state that natural beauty has instilled within him when he visited Gassho-zukuri Village as well as his wishes to re-experience such alluring landscapes every autumn.
