LU Kun-Ho has been teaching the techniques of print and ink painting for many years and played an important role in the development of modern ink painting in Taiwan. He is skilled in creating diverse composition within limited artistic space, offering refreshingly unique works to the viewers. Blue Sky beyond the Window is derived from urban buildings and their surfaces. Changes in ink tones are used to create gray colored overlapping geometric patches to recreate the nature of reflective window panes as well as the rationality and austerity of the designs adopted. Green, round-crowned trees at the bottom part of the composition adds a lively transforming element, reminding those living in the glass city to raise their head and appreciate the blue sky and rare glimpse of urban greenery. Using flowing ink and lines, LU Kun-Ho has established a dialog between the glass windows and their reflections while exhibiting his masterly and accurate brushstrokes. Clean lines have been used to recreate a unique style of ink painting, adding modernist and flair to the final artwork.
