CHIEN Meng-Jin’s works are often derived from everyday life and seemingly insignificant materials, transformed and given new life through her sharp observation skills and artistic mindset to create smart and innovative works. In Stories of the Studio, the artist has created a spiritual and mental sanctity. Yellow was selected as the main color tone for both canvases, using a semi-abstract approach to illustrate scenes of everyday life. The vases, dinner table, human silhouettes, as well as the old, patched up wall at the background serves as a metaphor of the “real” and “virtual” approaches employed by the artist, slowly fleshing out an abstract yet poetic world for weaving personal tales while offering a sense of serenity.
