YEN Chin is adept in combining print art with different materials to create richly-layered two-dimensional products. In his Direction Sense Series, YEN Chin made use of blooming and drip techniques to generate a golden yellow background. At the bottom of the diagram he has created three oddly-shaped constructions, casting their shadows on the ground as a result of illumination to create a layered effect. The artist has developed structures and forms that resemble architectural landscapes, with thin, narrow, and interconnecting roads between the constructions that represent the irony and choices that people face every day. By combining techniques of automatism and clear geometric lines, YEN Chin has created a scene that highlights the uniqueness of these constructions, conveying the dilemma we face when making everyday choices.
