XU Hao-Yun enjoys illustrating transformed organisms and plants to manifest the realm of fantasy lying deep within her heart. In We are All Hidding, Perhaps, the theme is based upon XU Hao-Yun’s inner fantasies. Plants and organisms depicted in this scene are nothing like those we are familiar with, but have been reimagined and molded by the artist’s imaginations. Colorful monsters, plants, and insects seem to be playing hide and seek, concealing themselves within the trees and bushes, and looking for the one who would be exposed next. XU Hao-Yun took advantage of the tendency for people to look for details in any picture and converted every hidden plant and insect into a focal point, adding new details and surprises to every successful search. By using her superb skills in spatial composition, XU Hao-Yun has created an interactive work that is busy but not riotous, richly layered but not confused.
