A Tree in Lengshuikeng 3 is a work spanning between 2006 and 2007 based on a single tree between Lengshuikeng and Qingtiangang that LIU Ying-Chieh visited regularly during hikes up Yangmingshan. Layers of detailed brushstrokes show twining branches spreading across the canvas, creating an image of a verdant source of vitality and life. In every hike, LIU Ying-Chieh would go to her particular spot and start working on the same canvas to sketch the same tree, adding more layers and recording the tree’s growth.
