CHUANG Kai-Yu has always used photography as a media to contemplate the mutual dependence and repulsion between the human race and the environment. In the Series of Alias, CHUANG Kai-Yu picks up a collection of items from everyday life, including the exoskeleton of a fly’s carcass devoured by ants, wooden blocks picked up from the street, kitchen scraps from the night before, and paper littered on the floor. The objects were then re-arranged and scanned, providing a truthful record of the object’s visual appearance and achieving the effects of still-life paintings. CHUANG Kai-Yu has created a whole new perspective of seeing things, opening a new avenue for viewers to explore and reach new ideas about everyday objects.
