HUANG Chyi-Wen’s works focus on a creative model that aims to break down barriers separating Eastern from Western art, traditional and modern styles, as well as static and dynamic representations. Huang has combined elements of music, dance, and hymns to create a unique Rocking Draw approach, which integrates Eastern calligraphy with the spontaneity of Western "automatic" technique to create pieces of abstract art. Journey of the Heart 033 is part of a series based upon HUANG Chyi-Wen’s dreams for the environment and a blissful life. In this work, ink and acrylic paint is freely strewn back and forth across the canvas to create a rich background texture. A rhythmic and controlled melody is then used to evenly dispense strokes of blue paint in a musical and melodious fashion. Huang uses painting to express his passionate attitude for life while illustrating the uncertainties and chance nature of this journey.
