In the Blue Line, CHEN Pei-I uses a single, unbroken, and unending blue line to weave this complex multi-layered work imbued with the spirit of Zen. The Blue Line mimics the pattern of human thought with a single brush stroke that offers an abstract portrayal of the chaotic and repetitive process as well as the disorder that goes on in our minds during stressful episodes. The composition seemed broken and disorderly when viewed up close. Take one step back, and the viewer would witness the mess of indigo lines transforming into a calming ocean deep in serene contemplation, turning what appears like a Gordian knot into a symbol of harmony.
