KAO Chih-Chuan employs classical 19th century collodion process that utilizes cyanide to create his Scenery in Memory series. KAO Chih-Chuan believes that photography is a means by which people interpret and record their journeys, which photographic images serving as a representation of these memories. Observations such as unique landscapes and views made during the trip could be recorded by the camera to generate everlasting snippets of our memories from enjoyable adventures. KAO Chih-Chuan employs collodion processes as well as complex smudging effects and extended solar exposure to create these blue-tinted photographs. These works express the nostalgia experienced during the trip while the complex film imaging process itself offers a sense of satisfying experience.
