Artist DU Jian-Min is good at expressing the deep consciousness in the mind through painting. He looks for the space of emotional recollection through the ambiguous metaphor. In his work Sea of Memory, the tender light sprays through the window and shines upon the yellow table cloth with folds and obvious distinction between light and shadow. It implies the warmth existing in the artist’s impression. Three static objects from the sea on the table, shell, coral, and the shell in the glass jar are obscurely and oppressively linked with the past memory. The mottled wall full of traces of posts is a mark of attracting tranquility and gives audiences infinite imagination. Through painting, the artist projects his profound consciousness of ego to the tranquil corner, expressing the mental awareness of the internal and external intersection between painting, livelihood, and life.
