Artist HSU Yu-Ting’s themes of creation are the relationship between human beings and the environment. For understanding this place, she has done the field survey. Through the profound observation and gaze, she considers human beings’ consciousness and value of existence. After long-term observation and creation, she maturely grasps the painting techniques of Eastern gouache. Her work The Green Island takes the age of white terror in Green Island as the theme. She applies metal foil and mineral paints to presenting multiple changes of textures and creating special visual effects. Since she began practicing Eastern gouache, her themes include simple plants and the focus on images on the land. She understands historical and social issues in Taiwan through the field survey, so her works contain certain astonishing vigor and creativity.
