Artist CHEN Chiang Hsu specializes in displaying Eastern aesthetics through the Western medium of oil paints. In A Congealed Landscape, Chen employs the multilayered coloring properties of oil paints to build a detailed, dense grove of trees with layers of dotted brushstrokes. The lower part of the painting shows a dense expanse of forest, which is complemented by a tranquil sky above, forming a serene landscape. The phenomena of nature seem detached from reality, permanently crystallized in one fleeting moment.
