In The Cleaners, CHIU Chen-Hung attempts to capture a vanishing scene, a fragment of memory left behind from one of his works. Back in 2009, CHIU created a large outdoor installation on the plaza outside the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art, titled Mountains Edge. He built a small hill with truckloads of soil and covered it with grass, creating a kind of memorial monument. But he removed it after the end of the exhibition, leaving behind a large, wet imprint on the ground. With poetic imagery, the artist captures the interactions between the sweepers and the installation site, depicting the creation of a memory and its subsequent erasure.
