作品賞析
In Paradise, artist WU Cing-Cing uses pen and ink to build an imagined paradise: in it, there’s grassland with several little houses, with tall mountains dominating the background. It draws us in, in such a way that we might want to run and jump around inside the scene. Wu first lays out numerous lines of ink, some dense, some sparse, producing subtle changes in shading. The overall composition of the scene is simple, but it’s a grand sight with a grassy plain in the foreground and layered mountains as a backdrop, going all the way back to the lofty peaks; it’s a lovely setting expressing nature’s myriad forms. Within the overall structure of the painting is a row of simple, squat houses at the base of the mountains, giving the scene a dreamlike attribute; an ethereal yet unrestrained Zen-like quality. Through shading and ink wash effects, Wu carefully creates a shroud of mist and clouds imbued with an airy, atmospheric sensation. This symbolizes the expression of the artist’s personal feelings; a search for an inner reliance and an ideal state through painting.
