Artist LIN Cheng specializes in ink painting. She has always been fond of “Dragon Balls” produced by Japanese comic artist, Akira Toriyama, and particularly SON GOKU - a brave, perseverant and optimistic protagonist who takes all sorts of challenges. The shape of the natural landscape of the work is based on the image of Son Goku during the exercise of martial arts. The landscape painting is applied with special ink-painting techniques to portray the stone-like and tough body that corresponds to the character of the protagonist as well as the self expectation. Another work, “Holiukan,” comes from the one of the signature fists of famous animation game, “Street Fighter.” The artist integrates her work with new-generation themes and creates her own stories of fantasy world through interdisciplinary use of traditional media.
