Artist CHEN Ying-Chun paints a series on the piggery at her house. Particularly, the “Pig Paradise” features the azure sky as the main context of the painting. In contrast, what reflects under the sky is not the beautiful and natural rural scenery but the industrial piggery built with iron sheet. In spite of the name, “Pig Paradise,” pigs or symbols of paradise are missing from the work while the artist uses a consistent color to draw the piggery with a simple look. The painting implies the living circle of piggery industry under industrial operation day after day, which virtually results in the alienation between the piggery and all living things. Even if one climbs up to overlook the complete piggery, he or she will not perceive the sudden enlightenment but the anxiety of being compressed by the sky.
