作品賞析
For a long time, artist CHUANG Jung-Che has used the human body as a context for his work. In this series he uses human skin as a canvas for images of classical Chinese flowers, which he then photographs for posterity. In The Tattoo Painting – Shower of Cherry Blossoms, he applies a tattoo needle technique to create a picture of cherry blossoms falling from tree branches on human skin. As the wounds heal, the resulting scabs form patterns. Treating human skin like a silk screen and blood as a substitute for ink, he creates an image resembling a traditional water-and-ink painting, a bodily totem of varying shades. By pondering the possibilities of the body as a basis for artwork, Chuang transforms his inner wounds into scars on the surface of a human body, and transmutes physical bodily pain into a beautiful inscription of life memories.
