The elevated cottage is a temporary dwelling built by oyster farmers to watch over oyster farms. After the farmers abandoned the cottage, it was left behind in the middle of the ocean to face wind, sun, rain, and typhoon all by itself. This picture, “Decaying”, taken by photographer Chen Chih-Hung symbolizes that the traditional culture is gradually withering and declining as the result of people’s neglect and imprudence. Chen used the unique xyz technique so that the resolution of the photograph exceeded 200 million pixels; by utilizing digital Giclée output, Chen further perfected the image, making it even more delicate.
