Artist Duan An-Kow likes to convey the feelings people have for each other in modern life through his sculptures. His style often incorporates a subtle humor. In his sculpture He’s My Brother, Duan employs a dynamic sculpturing technique to describe the good friendship between two brothers with very different builds. The younger brother places his hand on the shoulder of the other, standing on his tiptoes and looking up with a proud expression, as if exclaiming to the viewer, “He’s my brother!” By portraying two ordinary human figures, the artist gives the viewer the chance to experience a simple and cordial friendship between two people.
