HUANG Po-Ren’s sculpture Pissed off comes from his The Dog’s Note series. Here he uses copper as the medium for his sculpture of a Formosan Mountain Dog. In Pissed off the dog is lifting his leg to pee, with a blissful look of sheer joy on his face, a look that makes you want to go over and pet him. With this piece the artist is trying to convey the idea that people should learn from the dog’s attitude and not use aggressive language or behavior but should set up a good communication pattern with others Huang explores life and human nature in the interaction between dog and man. By creating a variety of poses for his dogs, as well as anthropomorphizing them, the artist presents to us his own thoughts on family, human relations, and social conditions.
